Cody/Rouge Youth Employment Resource Guide
B.U.O.Y. – Northwestern District was established in northwest Detroit on November 28, 1988. In 1996, under the direction of Police Commander Judy Dowling, the Board of Directors developed the Youth Enhancement Group, which is a group of young men who join the program when they are around 11 years old. As long as they remain active they can stay in the group until the end of high school. The Board of Directors and the Officers attempt to show them how big the world is and that they can accomplish anything with dedication, focus, professionalism, and hard work. We take them to the opera, theater, sporting events, camping trips, etc. We want to widen their world. The youth are taught to be viable community members by volunteering in city wide initiatives, and giving back to their community.
